As promised, here’s a picture of the new and improved herb drying rack I forged yesterday:

The arms are forged from 1/4 inch square stock and feature fishtail scrolls on the ends. They are of unequal length so they will nest when folded flat.

The bracket is 3/4 inch wide and 1/4 inch thick with a heart formed at the top. The heart is formed by splitting the stock, drawing out each side to a taper and then bending each tine to form a heart.

The lower support for the arms is formed by bending the bottom end of the bracket to a right angle. The upper support is a separate piece that has a tenon which fits into a hole in the bracket. It is peened over in the back to hold it in place. The arms are held in place by a hand-forged rivet which passes through both brackets and both arms. The rivet is peened over on both ends to hold it in place.

Thanks for looking…bart
