The heat wave broke long enough for me to fire up the forge this week. I took the opportunity to forge some new latches for my wife’s family cemetery.


They are forged from 1/4 inch square mild steel. I zapped them with a few coats of satin black paint. Don’t know how that will hold up during the Chestnut Mountain winters.



One latch holds the gate closed. The other holds the gate open for vehicular traffic.
