This weekend we picked apples and pears. Friday I picked two five-gallon buckets of Winesap apples at Mom’s. Dad has been gone nearly a year now but I still call it “Dad’s” tree and it was absolutely loaded! I also got about a half bucket of Grimes Golden at Mom’s. Today Teresa and I picked three five-gallon buckets of Moonglow pears from the tree I planted on Teresa’s home-place. That tree was loaded too! Then I got another bucket of Grimes Golden from our tree. We’ll probably can some of the pears. I’d also like to wrap some and put them away to mellow for later eating. Plus, next weekend we’re planning to make apple butter and press some cider. I may even try to press some of the pears to blend with the apple cider. Never pressed cider before…this will definitely be an adventure!
